Job description:
Aucocisco School in Freeport, ME, is seeking a dynamic, creative, certified teacher to join our K–8 Special Education team. This is a rare opportunity to teach in a small, mission-driven school where educators have the time, training, and flexibility to truly know their students and design instruction around how each child learns best. Eligibility for Maine Special Education certification (282) is required.
Aucocisco School is an extraordinary learning environment built for complex learners. We are a neurodivergent-affirming, trauma-informed school that values each student’s individuality and helps students build the academic, executive functioning, and self-advocacy skills they need for success. Small classes, individualized attention, and relationship-based teaching allow educators to make a meaningful impact every day. Teachers receive training in evidence-based curriculum and instructional strategies designed to support students with learning disabilities.
What makes this opportunity unique is the chance to work in a collaborative, supportive school community where teachers are encouraged to bring their passions, creativity, and strengths into their work with students. At Aucocisco, educators are not simply delivering lessons—they are helping students rediscover confidence, develop tools for learning, and experience school as a place where they can belong and thrive.
