The Wizard of Oz

The Aucocisco Drama Club presented their version of The Wizard of Oz on Tuesday, February 5, at 6 PM. Dorothy and her little dog Toto found their way to Emerald City, along with the Scarecrow, the Tin Man, and the Cowardly Lion. They met the wizard. They found out that there's no place like home!

Aucocisco Backstage Sessions Start Jan. 21, 2009

The Aucocisco Backstage program is a drama-based social pragmatics program for children and teens ages 8-16 with Asperger's syndrome, high-functioning autism, non-verbal learning disability, ADHD, anxiety disorder, and other related challenges, who struggle with social skills and peer relationships.

Holiday Craft & Bake Sale 2008

Students and teachers of Aucocisco School have been busily baking yummy cookies and brownies, making dog biscuits and bird treats, crafting candles and note cards, and creating other gifts to be sold during the holiday season.

OPEN HOUSE on Tuesday, Dec. 2

Aucocisco School held an Open House for prospective new students and their families on Tuesday, December 2. Parents joined us to learn more about all of our programs - full and part time school programs for students with learning differences, after school academic programs, and our new Backstage program, where kids have fun with improvisation games while improving their executive functioning and socialization skills. Aucocisco staff were be available to answer questions and show parents how Aucocisco School can meet their child's needs. 

Maine Coastal Cleanup Sept. 24

Did you see our photo in the Portland Press Herald? Again this year, as a part of Coastal Cleanup, Aucocisco School students and teachers volunteered to help clean up the waterfront near Portland's Back Bay and Spring Point in South Portland. We picked up trash and recorded the type and amount of debris we found. This data can be analyzed to find out the sources of coastline pollution and try to find solutions. Coastal Cleanup is the largest single volunteer event in our state, and we are proud to be a part of it.

What's the Backstage program?

Spring Fling 2008

Spring Fling was Friday, March 28, at the Cape Elizabeth Community Services Building. There was lots of great food, contributed by parents. Students could play pool, watch a movie, dance to DDR, sing karaoke, play air hockey, and have their photos taken. An Aucocisco Parent Meeting was held at the same time.
