OPEN HOUSE coming up on Tuesday, July 29

Aucocisco School will hold an Open House for prospective new students and their families on Tuesday, July 29, from 4:30 - 6:30 p.m.  Please join us to learn more about all of our programs - full and part time school programs for students with learning differences, after school academic programs, and our new Backstage program, where kids have fun with improvisation games while improving their executive functioning and socialization skills. Aucocisco staff will be available to answer questions and show you how Aucocisco School can meet your child's needs.

What's the Backstage program?

Spring Fling 2008

Spring Fling was Friday, March 28, at the Cape Elizabeth Community Services Building. There was lots of great food, contributed by parents. Students could play pool, watch a movie, dance to DDR, sing karaoke, play air hockey, and have their photos taken. An Aucocisco Parent Meeting was held at the same time.

Annual School Feast March 26

In connection with studying Western civilization, this year's feast featured foods from Italy, Greece, and Israel. Students prepared and served a great lunchtime meal that included pene pasta with meatballs, Greek salad, white grape juice, and apple crisp. The day of the feast, some students cooked while others worked on feast decorations, updated their electronic portfolios, and watched movies. Feast Day 2008 was a day to remember.

Open House February 12

An Open House for prospective Aucocisco School and Learning Center students and their families took place on Tuesday, February 12. Families toured the school and spent time with the teachers, administrators, and current Aucocisco families. Following the Open House was an Aucocisco parents’ meeting. A very successful evening!

Remembering Harry Sylvester

We were saddened to hear about the passing of Harry Sylvester on January 13, 2008. Harry and his wife, Janet, founded the Learning Disabilities Association of Maine. Harry was a wonderful man, and a tremendous advocate for children and adults with learning disabilities. 

Holiday Craft & Bake Sale

Students and teachers of Aucocisco School have been busily baking dog biscuits, crafting jewelry and candles, and creating other gifts to be sold during the holiday season. Last year’s sale was highly successful, and this year promises to be even better! Proceeds go to a local charity.

Open House Held November 27

An Open House for prospective Aucocisco School and Learning Center students and their families was held on Tuesday, November 27. Families were able to tour the school and speak with the teachers, administrators, and current Aucocisco families.

Career Day

On November 14, middle and high school students at Aucocisco School participated in Career Day. Students were able to listen to people from the community talk about their chosen careers.

Speakers included a doctor, a restaurant manager, a policeman, a landscaper, an emergency medical technician, a DEA agent, a veterinarian, a nurse, and a preschool teacher.
